5 STARS: A Book of Life…
“Dead Man Rising” is a wonderful testimony of God’s modern day miracles in one man’s life. The method of flashing between what was happening in real time and thoughts from the past kept the book lively and exciting. The honesty of the thoughts whirling through Larry’s mind at various times whether in the flashbacks or real time, made the book come alive. Mr. Skahill became not just “puppet figure” but a real human being with the mixture of “good and bad” that exists in all of us. One can feel his struggle with pain and doubts of whether his life will ever be worth living again. But, always God is victorious and his conclusions of God’s mercy, the miracle of still being alive, and what is truly important in life present a lesson to all of us.
5 STARS: It’s all easy after propellers…
This book details the amazing story of a Christian man who survives a terrible accident, has to overcome the pain of physical therapy and the realization that his secular world is changed forever. It is told in the language of men with the outlook of a Christian man. I was touched by the faith that Larry maintained throughout this ongoing ordeal and his realization that he had to trust totally in the Lord for his survival.
5 STARS: A true story with a great wow factor. This was an easy read, very well written and VERY gripping! I found myself trying to stay awake just to finish a few more pages. The words carry you right into the author’s world; you can almost see everything as if it were going on all around you. As true events are unfolded I found myself anxious to know what came next. Well done Mr. Skahill, thank you for finding a most excellent way to tell your story. I have wondered about the world of diving, now I am hoping I will get the chance.
5 STARS: Vivid story of a Christian man’s exhibition of strength and gratitude- Must read!, A gripping, amazing & true story of how a man exhibits his reliance on our Heavenly Father to give him the needed strength to endure the pain caused by a tragic accident. Throughout the book he reminds himself of Philippians 4:13 and that he can do all things through Christ Jesus. He leads me to rethink many events that have occurred throughout my life and whether or not I have fully acknowledged God’s glory and grace. A very quick and easy read that an average reader can complete in a few evenings.
