Speaking Engagements/Requirements

Due to Larry’s multiple injuries, there are reasonable physical limitations to his traveling. Without other arrangements, Larry generally cannot attend more than two to three hours at any one location. Larry also has trouble when traveling in the seated position for over five hours. This can be solved with a night for recovery. For example if flying coast-to-coast, it’s best that Larry arrive the day before the event to allow for this recovery time.

Larry’s costs for travel expenses are fairly low in the greater southern California area as well as good portions of Central California as Larry lives on the Central Coast. For travel outside these areas, Larry asks that the sponsoring organization prepay/make arrangements  for reasonable travel expenses to include roundtrip airfare, rental car and lodging (downstairs or elevator access please). For convenience sake, Larry asks that he be allowed to keep track of reasonable meal receipts and be reimbursed within ten days after the event.

To help you lower costs, seek another organization in your general area to share costs and perhaps even have Larry speak there as well. He is very happy to make accommodations like this in his schedule in order to help you and others have him come speak.

At this time, Larry does not charge for the actual speaking engagement, he does however ask that he be allowed to set up a 6’ table with chairs where he can sell his books, CDs, DVDs and other items. In some cases, there are minimum book purchase requirements. This is highly recommended to offset travel expenses when organizations have their own bookstores, ultimately making the event as low net cost for your organization as possible.  Site considerations:

The greatest physical difficulties Larry has are when he is required to stand on concrete for extended periods of time. Larry requires a podium with a nearby, comfortable stool to overcome this situation. It’s not a bad idea to have a padded chair nearby for a quick rescue with a portable/radio microphone, just in case.
